Ireland's Department of Transport has launched a competition to supply body armour and tactical protective equipment to An Garda Síochána under a €50m contract.

The procurement spans three distinct equipment groups. Group I requires uniform and specialist personal body armour with soft ballistic and knife protective panels and a suitable carrier for wearing with current AGS uniform. Group II covers tactical body armour including soft armour and plates, with an armour carrier featuring load-carrying capability and ancillaries. Group III specifies ballistic covert body armour.

This is a pre-qualification questionnaire stage, the first step in a structured competition process. Suppliers meeting the questionnaire criteria will progress to later tender stages. The department defines all technical requirements and terminology within the competition documentation.
