The Department of Transport is running a competition to find a supplier for body armour and tactical protective equipment for An Garda Síochána. The contract covers development, manufacture, provision and maintenance across three distinct product groups.

Group I covers uniform and specialist personal body armour with soft ballistic and knife protective panels fitted to an armour carrier designed for wear with current Garda uniform. Group II comprises tactical body armour including soft armour and plates with an armour carrier featuring load-carrying capability and ancillaries. Group III specifies ballistic covert body armour.

The Department has set an estimated value of €50m for the contract. Candidates must complete a pre-qualification questionnaire, with all capitalised terms defined in a glossary of terms provided within the procurement documents. The competition was published on 21 June 2026.
