The West of England Combined Authority is tendering a £167.5m contract to supply, install, operate and maintain electric vehicle charging infrastructure across two unitary authorities. The concessionaire must deliver end-to-end services including hardware, software, energy supply and maintenance. Bids are due by 30 March 2027.
The West of England Combined Authority is seeking a single concessionaire to build and run a regional electric vehicle charging network across North Somerset Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council, funded by Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) grant money from the Department for Transport.
The contract is worth an estimated £167.5m and requires the winning supplier to handle design, planning, civil engineering, hardware provision, software, energy supply, customer payment systems and all maintenance activities. The concessionaire must control the entire supply chain and be capable of delivering all elements without subcontracting core functions.
The network is designed primarily to serve residents without off-street parking, while also supporting business and visitor charging. The authority has scheduled a tender conference for 24 June 2026, with registration available via Microsoft Teams.
Prospective bidders have until 30 March 2027 to submit proposals. The contract will sit between the concessionaire and the combined authority, which is procuring on behalf of both unitary authorities, though the councils will retain the benefit of the services.
