THE UNIVERSITY CATERERS ORGANISATION LIMITED has awarded a £32m framework agreement for fresh butchered meat and poultry supply to BFS GROUP LIMITED. The deal runs until 2030 and covers fresh cuts, game, processed meats, poultry and specialty diets including halal and kosher options for member institutions.
THE UNIVERSITY CATERERS ORGANISATION LIMITED has handed BFS GROUP LIMITED a £32m contract to supply fresh butchered meat, poultry and associated products to its member universities across the UK. The framework agreement, published on 22 June 2026, runs until 2030 and covers institutional catering needs.
The scope includes fresh butchered meat (pork, lamb, beef, veal), game such as venison and pheasant, poultry (chicken, turkey, duck), processed items including sausages and haggis, and pre-prepared cooked meats and pies. BFS GROUP LIMITED will also supply specialty eggs, religious options (halal and kosher) and welfare-assured products including Red Tractor, RSPCA Assured and organic ranges.
The contract also provides for a butchery service where required. A small number of TUCO member institutions with their own farms may require animals to be processed via an abattoir and cut to specification. This service is optional rather than mandatory for winning suppliers.
Framework agreements allow member institutions to place orders against the contract over its lifetime. Universities and specialist catering operations seeking to use the agreement can call off supplies as needed during the contract period.
