Schindler Ltd has won a £49.6m contract to design, supply, install and service passenger and goods lifts for Birmingham City Council, with the award taking effect on 30 March 2026.

The contract covers design, supply, installation and refurbishment of lifts across the council's estate, alongside ongoing servicing and repair. A dynamic purchasing system was used to run the procurement: this is an open purchasing mechanism that allows the buyer to call off suppliers on agreed terms for defined periods, typically allowing multiple suppliers to be appointed and new suppliers to join during the framework's life.
